A FOX IN THE WOODS

Happy Hump Day!

Today's card is a little fox in the woods.  Images by Stampin Up.  The fox is stamped on vellum card stock.  It's thicker than some vellums I've used in the past and so much nicer to stamp on.  The trees are an embossing folder.  Layered on green card stock for the background.  Stamped Happy Birthday on the vellum, and card is done. The card is a design by Karen.  Thanks for sharing your design, Karen!  :o)

I'm sure you all are scrambling to get everything done before Christmas....I sure am.  Too much to do, and so little time.  Argh.  Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back again with something new.

This Cat looks Scared!

Happy Weekend!

A quick post today.  Ms. Edie designed this card that we all made in a swap.  Thanks, Edie!  Looks like the kitty is pretty scared of the tweety bird in the tree.  lol

An embossing folder was used for the tree background, then colored with colored pencils.  The cat and bird were colored and green background paper was added to finish off the card.
Images are by Tim Holtz.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a good weekend and stay warm.

IT'S BIG BIRD IN A FEDORA!

Happy Weekend!

Today's card is one I made for a swap.  It's Big Bird in his Fedora!  Isn't he cute?  lol

The original design was by Lyn.  Thanks, Lyn!  I think this bird is the biggest bird in the set...you know, the guy who wears "husky" size.  I have to laugh because hubby always tells me he wore husky size as a kid.

Colored with Prisma colored pencils, layered with cork card stock and a piece of scrapbook paper.  Two gold brads added to finish it off.

I hope you're all staying warm....it's cold!  Thanks for stopping by.

HAPPY SPOOKY HALLOWEEN!

Happy Halloween!

Just a few more days till the spooky event.  Today's image is by Tim Holtz, and it can also be used for Dia De Los Muertos cards.  I took the stamped images with me to Arizona, and colored them there.  Got cards made when we returned home.

I colored the image with Copic markers.  The die cut web in the upper left-hand corner is by Cheery Lynn.  DH and I were invited to visit the factory while we were in AZ, and the owner gave us the grand tour of the Cheery Lynn Factory.  It was amazing, and I found out that they also make all the dies for Memory Box, Poppy Stamp dies, My Favorite Things, Lawn Fawn, and more.  Nice to know that so many dies (although not all), are made in the USA.  So interesting to see the entire process.  I always thought the name of the company was Cherry Lynn....like Bing cherries.  LOL  It's Cheery Lynn.  They make some really nice dies.

Back to the card, the upper right-hand web and dangling spider are stamps from my Halloween stash.  I used a silver gel pen on the ornament on her forehead (it did not photograph well, but it's very shimmery), then I added three sequins around the flowers.  Distressd the edges on the first card with Antique Paper ink.  Lastly added the spiderweb background paper, and a red gemstone on the black widow spider's back. Spooky!

Here's a second version with a turquoise heart instead of the red.  Also, on this one, I did not distress the edges.  I like the distressed look best.

The inside of the card reads:
Have a Frightfully Delightful Halloween!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a fun Halloween and watch out for the little goblins!

CHRISTMAS WILL BE HERE SOON

Happy Weekend!

I was looking at the calendar today and realized Christmas is just a little over two months away.  Where has this year gone?  Today's card is one I made in a swap with friends, and this card was designed by Karen.  Thanks Karen!  Cute little penguin, igloo and falling snow embossing folder were used.  The stamps and embossing folder are Stampin Up.  I added an organza gray ribbon to finish it off.  Layered with black and gray card stock.  I added Stickles to the igloo ice blocks.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back later with another card.

A CARD FOR HUBBY

Hi Friends,

Today's card is one that I made for hubby.  The image is a Welsh Terrier.....and our fur baby, Zoe.  She's spoiled rotten and has hubby wrapped around her little paw.  Really.  That's okay though, that's what fur babies are for...to love and spoil.

I used two different pieces of scrapbook paper from of my paper stash for the background and behind the doggie.  A Tim Holtz embellishment is in the lower right corner.  And to finish it off, I used a chocolate brown grosgrain ribbon that gathered and stitched.  Colored the image with Copics.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back again with a new card.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Hi Friends,

Today I'm sharing another Graphic 45 card.  I made this for a friend who without fail, sends us one of her beautiful handmade anniversary cards every year.  Always fun getting happy mail.

It was another fun card to make, and once again, made me think outside the comfortable box I'm usually in....fun to do something different once in awhile.  Lots of fussy cutting again, and layering of the different patterned papers.  The coral and greens were different than the colors I usually use.

Popped up the butterfly with foam tape, and added a row of pearl embellishments underneath the word anniversary.  Distressed the edges of patterned papers with Vintage Photo distress ink.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back later with another card.

THANKS BERRY MUCH

Hello Friends!

While sifting through one of my old boxes of images, I came across this little  guy.  The coloring was pretty faint, so pulled out my Copics and re-colored the image.  Much better the second time around.  I embossed the background red card stock with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, added a forest green base to the image, and glued it all together.

Do you ever find old images that you rework?  I have done it, and usually like the end result better when I've put it away and forget about it for awhile.  It's like painting.  Sometimes I get to a point where I'm not totally satisfied with a painting, so I put it away and won't look at it again for awhile.  When I get back to it later (could be months later), I can usually figure out what I need to do to finish it.  Funny how that happens.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

SORRY, I MISSED YOUR BIRTHDAY......

Happy Weekend Friends,

A quick post today.  Here is another Tim Holtz crazy bird.  This little sweetie is colored in pink, so it must be a girl birdie.  This is a card I made in a swap with my ABQ friends.  Thanks, Karen, for the cute design!

The balloon is popped up with dimensionals, as is the gift.  Super fast and fun card.

I'll be back later with a new card.  Thanks for stopping by to visit.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PATRICK AND YVETTE!

Happy Weekend Friends!

Today's card is one I made for our kids.  Patrick and Yvette are celebrating their 22nd Anniversary.  Happy Anniversary kids!

This is another Graphic 45 card.  Lots of fussy cutting on this one, and a few different patterns of paper for layering.  The base is an ivory card.  I used a piece of ivory grosgrain ribbon and a pearl with brass brad on the ribbon.  Underneath the grosgrain ribbon is a piece of old lace.  The butterflies have dimensional tape to pop up the wings.  Also, I darkened parts of the dress and butterflies with Prisma colored pencils.

Hubby took the picture of the inside of the card and it turned out a little wonky.  It's actually straighter than it appears.  lol   Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back later with something new.

A GRADUATION CARD FOR CHRISTINA

Hi Friends,

I got on a Graphic 45 kick and made three cards. The first one is one I made for Christina, who just graduated from Nursing School, at the University of New Mexico.  A wonderful accomplishment, and to top it off, she's a really lovely young lady.  Her parents are bursting at the seams.

There's some fussy cutting involved, and layering of different patterned papers.  Tiny pearls were added to the coral frame.  Hard to see, but click on the pic, and you'll have a better picture.  Loved the white and coral balloons in the background, and they were perfect for celebrating her graduation.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back later with another Graphic 45 card.

MR. CRAZY BIRD

Hi Friends,

I'm sure most of you are getting ready for the big Labor Day weekend.  Summer's last hoorah.  Love the cooler weather we've been having, but I suppose all too soon I'll be complaining about being too cold.  Argh....

Today's card is one of Tim Holtz' crazy birds.  I used Derwent Watercolor pencils to color him on watercolor paper.  The corner die is by Tim.  The brown swirly wreath-looking die is by Stampin' Up.  I used distress inks to darken the corners of the scrapbook paper used under the die cut corner.  You may have to click on the picture to read the sentiment.  Cracked me up when I read it.

Thanks so much for stopping by this busy weekend!  Have fun and be safe!

BIRTHDAY PINWHEELS

Hi Friends,

Today's card is a cute and simple design.  Edie shared this card with us, and it was fun making something different.  Thanks, Edie.  Love the little pinwheels!  Blue card stock was used in the background, and the sentiment is backed with the same double-sided card stock as the pinwheels.  Tiny purple brads were placed in the center of the pinwheels to hold them together.

Purple brads are from:

BIRTHDAY CANDLES

Hello Friends!

We've been getting the rains we've needed so badly, so everyone is happy.  Everything is turning green....including the weeds.  lol    Oh well, we'll take whatever moisture we can get.

Today's stamp image is by Outlines Stamps.  It's an oldy but a goodie.  The candles were colored with Prismacolor pencils.  The background is an embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  It was quick and easy card to make.  The design is by Liane. Thank you!  Great card.  Hard to see, but the polka dots in the square surrounding the candles have Stickles on them.

Thanks for stopping by.

YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME

Hi Friends,

Lots happening at our house, so this will be short.

Today's card is what I would classify as masculine, but I guess it could be for a female as well.

The stamps are by Stampin Up.  Isn't the World Map a cool stamp?  I like it.  I cut two banners for the sentiment, and tucked the turquoise banner behind the black one.  Circle punched the compass, and put a silver brad in the center.  Background is a kraft colored card.  Quick and easy card.

Thanks for stopping by this weekend.  Hope you're staying cool!     Hugs, Geri

TEA ANYONE?

Hello Friends,

Hope you're all staying cool in this heat we're experiencing.  Sure wish we'd get some rain!

Today's card is one with a special fold.  I'm sorry the pics are a bit dark.  Stamps are by Stampin Up.  The set offers the dies for cutting out the cup, teapot, spoon, etc.  It's a really cute set.  The light pink background flowers were stamped with a light pink ink.  The teapot and cup were die cut out of a SU floral card stock.  The little teaspoon is a die cut and is silver, but didn't photograph well.  Looks white in the top photo, and too dark in the bottom photo.  Ugh...metallics and glitter are so difficult to capture in a photo, but you get the idea.  There's a string holding the tea bag tag.  A polk-a-dot black and white card stock was used behind the pale pink background flowers.  Love that paper.   Stampin Up offers wonderful thick papers that are a dream to work with.

Here's a pic of the card partially opened.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great weekend and stay cool.

QUILTING GIRLFRIENDS....GLAD YOU'RE IN MY BLOCK OF FRIENDS!

Happy Weekend Friends!

Are you ready for the 4th of July?  I didn't make a 4th of July card, but am sharing a girlfriend card that I hope you like.  The stamp is by Art Impressions.  I fell in love with the image, even though I'm not a quilter.  They look like they're having so much fun together.  :o)

Copic coloring on the image, and I added a piece of lace from my stash at the bottom of the image. Punched out some tiny flowers for embellishments, and the background paper is out of my paper stash.

Click on the pic for a closer look.

Wishing you all a fun and safe 4th of July!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Hi Friends,

I have some "male" blog followers, and to you.....I wish you all a very Happy Father's Day!

Although this card doesn't say Happy Father's Day on the cover, it does on the inside of the card.  This design could also be used for other occasions.  The stamps are by Tim Holtz.  The striped paper is from Hobby Lobby and the screw brads are from a lovely company by the name of Southwest Trading Post.  Here's Sharyalynn's website addresses:

PURPLE BUTTERFLIES

Hello Friends,

Today's card is full of butterflies.  The background was made by stippling ink onto an embossing folder, then running it through the embossing machine.  I added a flowery piece of scrapbook paper out of my stash to the base of the card, bordered with purple card stock behind it.  Then I punched out some smaller dark purple butterflies, and added pearl embellishments to the lighter butterflies.   A sentiment from SU was added to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.  I'll be back later with something new.

A MASCULINE CARD

Hi Blog Friends!

With Father's Day quickly approaching, I 'm posting a masculine card today.  Stamps are from Stampin Up.  I used the black, turquoise and kraft colored card base for this card.

Two brads hold the double banner strip with sentiment.  And in the middle of the compass, there's a gemstone....kinda hard to see.

Fast and easy card for the guy in your life.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.  Happy stamping!

THANKS A LATTE!

Hi Friends!

Happy Thursday.  Today's card was so much fun to make.  I love the Tim Holtz coffee cup, and had been wanting to use it for a while.  Finally got around to making a card with it.

I used the tiny coffee cup embossing folder for the background on kraft colored card stock.  The turquoise strip at the bottom is stamped with an old (retired) Stampin Up stamp out of my stash.  The sentiment is out of the same set.  I used my crimper for the band around the cup.  I have to tell you, when my grandson was a little guy, he'd come over and say "let's stamp grandma" and run and pick out the crimper.  I can't tell you how many strips of paper Desmond crimped!  lol  He loved that tool.

Added a few turquoise sequins for some bling, and turquoise card stock for layering.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back later with something new.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANDLES

Hi Friends,

Today's card is a birthday card with some big candles.  My stamping friend, Lyn, cut out the candles, and I forgot to ask what she used, but am guessing she might have cut them on her Cricut.  Anyway, they're fun candles.  I added the happy birthday sentiment, and the sequins to finish off the card.  You can't see it clearly in the pic, but the sequins do match the teal color in the candles.  Sequins and gemstones are really hard to photograph for some reason.  Hard to capture the shimmer.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll be back next week with something new.  Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

A Field of Flowers

Hi Freinds,

Well, life never stops with it's unexpected turn of events, does it?  I won't bore you, but can tell you we've had so many things happening, it's been almost unbelievable.  Thank you all for hanging in there.  I really appreciate you following my blog and not giving up on me.  :o)

Getting to my card now, the stamp set is from Stampin Up, and it's called Flowering Fields.  Stamped flowers with Memento ink on kraft colored card stock, then colored it with markers.  I used Distress Vintage Photo ink on the edges and glued it to a red background paper.   I have a box of various pieces of lace, and thought this piece would look nice on a card.  You know how you keep lace and never use it?  Time to dig it out and use it.

Quick and easy card.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll be back soon with something new.

A Birthday Card for Mom

Hi Friends,

Mom celebrated her 89th birthday this month!   She loves St. Francis, and belongs to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church here in Santa Fe.  I combined both of these on her card this year.

I'd never seen a St. Francis stamp before, and was lucky enough to spot one at convention this year.  Colored with Copics, and embossed a kraft colored background with a Cuttlebug folder.  I embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment with gold detail embossing powder.  I added a gold charm of Our Lady of Guadalupe with a gold thread.  She loved her card.  :o)

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a good week!

HAPPY EASTER!

Happy Easter Friends!

When I enter a new blog posting, they don't show up until the following day.  So....even though today is Easter, you won't see this till tomorrow.  That's okay, I don't want to wait till next year to post this card.

The little chick is from Stampin Up.  It's adorable. The Happy Easter is an old stamp out of my stash.  The crossed paper strips are Stampin Up paper, as is the embossing folder used for the background.  I can't remember the name of the pouffy embellishment on the chick's chest, but it is by SU.  The inside stamp is also a stamp from my stash.  The chick is stamped again on the inside corner.  The card is kraft colored base and envelope.  I gave the card to Mom today.  She smiled, and that was the only smile we got out of her today, so we were happy that she liked her card, and that it made her happy.  She'll be 89 next month.

Here's the inside of the card

A Get Well Card for Wendy

Hi Friends,

I'm sure you all must think I fell of the face of the earth, and I almost did.  I had cardiac surgery in February, and to make a long story short, ended up in ICU for three days because of uncontrolled bleeding.  I'm on the mend now, and not even using my cane these days.  It's been a long tough road, but I'm here!  Hubby was so worried, and I am blessed that he was at my side the whole time, and slept in a chair the entire time I was in ICU.  Well, enough of that.  Now on to the card.

I'm sorry I've been away from my blog for so long, but now you know why.

We have new friends in California now.  Lee and Lois bought our Country Coach motor home, and we've kept in close contact with them.  They wrote and told us their daughter had been in an terrible accident and was in the hospital.  I made their daughter, Wendy, this card before I went to have my surgery.

The owl is made with the Stampin up Owl punch.  I love that punch.  I embossed the background with a wood grain punch, and used a get well sentiment from my stamp stash.  Got the ribbon at Hobby Lobby.  I hope you like the card.  Wendy loved it....and so did her mom, Lois.

I'm slowly getting back to my stamping.  I'm so far behind on so many things.  Hadn't felt good for about a year, and with each passing day, I was getting worse.  We had no idea it was my heart.  We are thankful that my acupuncturist discovered the problem....and none too soon.  He retired 2 months after he found it.  Whew.....I'm blessed.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks especially for being patient!  A very special thanks goes out to all my friends who were praying for me, and for the beautiful cards, flowers and gifts I received.  I can never thank you all enough.

Love & Hugs, Geri xo

MY FISH ART

Hi Friends,

I don't have any new stamping cards to share, but thought I'd post some of my art work.  I began painting trout a few years ago, and quite a few of the trout in my collection are only found in the waters of New Mexico.

Today's fish is the Rainbow Trout, Oncorhynchus Mykiss (official name for the Rainbow Trout).  I paint my fish in different mediums which include watercolor, oil, and colored pencil.  This particular trout was done in colored pencil.  I love this medium because it's so portable, and when we were traveling, it was easy to bring along in the motor home.

I've shown and sold my trout art at a local gallery, and art shows.  Art is my first love.  ;o)  People always ask if only men buy my fish, but I am happy to say that the majority of them have been purchased by women.  The cards were printed from my 11 x 14 original paintings.  This is one of my cards.

Anyway, here's my Rainbow Trout......

I've been MIA for a while.  I'm scheduled for surgery next week, and will be back as soon as I can.  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit.
Until next time......
                                     Hugs, Geri xo

FLOWERS GALORE

Hi Friends,

I'm sharing a couple of birthday cards that I made in two different colors.  The stamps are by Stampin Up; the set is called Mixed Bunch.  I embossed the background papers with two different embossing folders.  The red card has a dotted background, and the lavender background is kind of a basket weave pattern.  Punched out flowers on the right and added gemstones to the center of the flowers.  I used dimensionals to pop up the happy birthday sentiment.

                                                        Bright and bold in red

A softer version in lavender

Thanks for stopping by to visit.  I hope you're New Year is off to a good start.  We have some things going on, so I'll be back when I can.  Miss my blogging.  :o(
