Blue on Blue

Hi Friends!

Well, we've gone from swamp-like conditions to hot and dry.  lol  Everything is so green, and the Santa Fe river is running.  Wish it would stay this green all summer long.  We sure enjoyed the rain while we had it.

While digging thru my card box, I came across this card.  I think it was made in a SU workshop.  It's definitely a SU stamp.  The blue and white back ground is a piece of patterned paper.  Glued a sheer ribbon on the diagonal, and backed the main image in the same shade of blue card stock.  Added a tiny velvet green bow, punched out the sentiment, and added some bling to finish it off.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and thanks for stopping by!  Until next time.....

You Are Amazingly Amazing

Hi Friends,

Here's a card made in a SU workshop.  Love the colors.  It was a quick and easy card.  The flowers remind me of little violets, but I'm not sure what these really are.  The yellow ribbon is nice with the purple and maroon colors.  Backed the main image with black card stock, and for a finishing touch, added the gemstones for a little bling.  Easy peasy.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Until next time.....

BUTTERFLY WINGS

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Wow...where is May going?  Whew...the days are flying by faster than I care to think about.

Today I'm sharing a card made with the Stampin Up Butterfly die.  Love that die.  I colored the bottom layer of the butterfly with distress inks.  My friend Karen Kurz, who is a SU demonstrator,  came up with the idea on coloring the butterfly.  Thanks, Karen!  Layered the die cut on top and added some sequins for some bling.

Wishing you all a safe and fun weekend!  Thanks for stopping by today.  Until next time....

It's Not Easy Making Waves!

Hi Friends!

With all the rain we've been getting in Santa Fe, I thought this would be the perfect card to share today.  Rain here is a rarity.....we really don't get much, although we sure need it.  Yesterday, it rained almost all day.  It was wonderful.  More rain in forecast for today.  I'm sure the weeds will be taller than we care for them to be, but oh well.  lol  We have a mama robin who is loving the rain.  Watched her dig for worms yesterday afternoon, and she was bathing in the bird bath too.  She's built her yearly nest in the same place again this year.  So much fun to watch her.

So today's card was designed by Liane for a card swap.  We each made our own cards with the kits.  Thanks, Liane!  Love the image.  The image is by Art Impressions.  Isn't she a hoot?  Love her ducky float tube.  Colored her up with Copics, put a little bling on her earrings....even beach babes need bling!  ;o)   Stamped the sentiment and put her together with the beachy background paper.

Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time......

Bikes, Bikes & More Bikes

Hi Friends,

A quick post today on a card made with a bike stamp.  I think it was made by Hero Arts.  This card was made in a quick card class.  Pretty simple....stamped the background, then the bike images on top of that.  Added gemstones to the center of the wheels, and a little sentiment "have a great day."  Makes a cute card for kids or anyone who loves bike riding.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back soon with another card.  Until next time...

Book pages for Teri

Hi Friends,

A friend (Teri) who was in the Glitter Chicks group has moved to Florida.  One of the ladies suggested we make a book for Teri.  We each made two pages for the book.  Each page measures 6" x 8".

My first page is a Southwest page, because Teri lived in New Mexico.  I thought the chili image and the friendship sentiment would be nice for this page.  All stamps are by Stamp A Mania (SAM) Rubber Stamp Company.  The embossing powder on the chili border stamp is also by SAM, and is called Weathered Copper.  I just love that color of embossing powder.  I used SAM Detail Copper embossing powder on the sentiment.  It's kinda hard to see, but it says "Friendship is the Spice That Makes Everything Nice".   Punched out three geckos, stamped some SW designs on the background, and all done with that page.

The second page I did is a "beach" theme since Teri moved to Florida.   I wanted to use the cute little house mouse in the sand.  Colored the image with Copic markers, die cut the edges, and  used some stickers to the left of the image.  Stamped some bubbles, and seaweed on the background, and done with the second page.  The book will be bound by another Glitter Chick and mailed to Teri.  Hope she enjoys her book!

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time....

Why I named my blog "Piper's Paper Wings"

Hi Blog Friends,

I've been asked several times over the past couple of years (and a few just lately) why or how I came up with the name for my blog, so I thought I'd tell you the story....

        "Piper's Paper Wings"

About four years ago, we lost our sweet Welsh Terrier, Piper.  About the same time, I'd been thinking about starting a blog.  When I was trying to come up with a name for the blog, I said to hubby that I would like the blog name to include Piper's name.  After a lot of thinking, scribbling and tossing names back and forth between the two of us, "Piper's Paper Wings" won.  We rescued Piper from a family in Texas, who could no longer take care of her.

Here's a couple of my favorite photos of Piper....

This is my absolute favorite photo of our girl.  It was the first time she'd ever seen snow!  She really loved playing in the snow.

We have a new fur baby now.  Well, maybe not so new...... she's now 3 years old.  Her name is Zoe Blue.  I'll post some pics of her one of these days.
Thanks for stopping by today, and taking the time to read about Piper's Paper Wings.  xo

Another Quickie....Brayering

Hello Friends,

Before I continue with some other cards, I'm slipping in one more brayered card.
I especially love the colors in the ink pad on this one.  You wouldn't think yellows and purples would go together, but I sure like them here.

I'll be back with another card soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!  Until next time....
