Sophia in Red

Hello Blog Friends!

I was going thru stamps I bought at the last stamp convention I attended and came across Sophia!  She's an unmounted stamp, so I pulled out my cling sheets and got her clinged.  I don't really like stamping without cling mounting anymore.  I just think I get a clearer image with the cling.  She's colored with Copics.  Scrapbook paper is on the right hand side of the card and in the square right behind Sophia.  The braid trim I picked up when we were in Texas a couple of years ago at one of the areas local craft stores.  I used redline tape to adhere the black braid and it worked great.  Oh....the Sophia stamp is from Stampland. They really do have some beautiful women stamps.

House Mouse Wreath & Berries

A quick post today with a little stamp from House Mouse.  This stamp is really small, and a challenge to color.  Copic markers were used, with the tiny areas being colored with Spectrum Noir's because they have more of a hard fine tip.  If you've used Spectrum's you know what I'm talking about.  The die cut used was cut with a Spellbinder's die, and one of my circle punches for the white cardstock.  I used a muted burgundy color on the biggest die cut, then kraft card stock on the next size.  I used the same card stock on the background border around the card, and a burgundy organza ribbon to finish it off.

Yuccas in Snow

Today's post is a card made with stamps from B&J Stamps, whose company is in southern New Mexico.  This was one of the cards that the owner of B&J demos at stamp convention.  Fun corner accent design stamps are the ones that resemble little pinwheels, and I love dots, so I had to add those around the edges of the card.  The main center circle was done with one of their bold stamps.  Ink pads are Inkcredibles.  The yuccas are dotted with Liquid Applique, then slightly heated with a heat tool to"puff" it up.  You need to be really careful when heating Liquid Applique so you don't scorch your card stock.  Very fine glitter is sprinkled on top of the Liquid Applique.  Blue and white twine tied around the bottom of the card.  A Southwestern Christmas card.

Tiptoeing Thru the Tulips

I had this card in my little stash of unfinished cards.  I had purchased some Liquid Pearls awhile back and thought it would be fun to try something different with the LP.   The basic technique is one that we did at Los Alamos Stamp Club when it was still in existence.  Sad to say, it is no more.  Sure do miss that stamp club, as it was a lot of fun, nice ladies and I always learned something at club.  The background is stamped with a Magenta flower and silver Brilliance ink, then you color the tulip stamp with markers and stamp on top of the background.  Bold stamps seem to work best.  You can't see it in the pics, but the background is really shimmery...the silver Brilliance ink.  I outlined the tulips with the Liquid Pearls.  Love the way it turned out.   :o)

Red-Breasted Robin with Fall Leaves

Today's post is the Red-breasted Robin.  The stamp is Magenta.   Colored with Copics.  For embellishments, I punched out some leaves, but before I did that, I stamped over the terra cotta card stock with a Stampers Anonymous stamp that has kind of an abstract design on it (with distress ink).  The kraft colored leaves is card stock that I had run thru an embossing folder and brushed the top of the embossing with distress ink to bring out the lines.  I wrapped a piece of brown organza ribbon around the bottom of the image and then added the leaves on top of the ribbon.  To finish it off, I added the golden colored berries by "The Robin's Nest"....quite fitting, don't you think?  :o)

Now, hubby suggested that instead of the bluish color I normally color in around images, that I use this color.  I'm still not sure what I think, but I'm game to try new colors.  He liked it, so he's happy, and I tried something new!

A Basket Full of Spicy Chili!

With the smell of chili roasting in the air around town, I thought I'd post some chili today.  I think chili roasting is quickly coming to and end because television is reporting that the chili is turning red on the vines down south.  For those of you not from New Mexico, our chili is mostly roasted when it's still green.  Today's stamps are from Stamp A Mania, from their Stampa Barbara line.  You can find them at www.stampamania.com   Check 'em out.

I used a corrugated kraft colored background behind the basket.  Used tiny brads on the corners.   Stamped and punched out the "Spicy" word on kraft colored card stock, backed it with a black card stock circle.  Colored the chili's with Spectrum Noir's that also come from Stamp A Mania.

Stamp A Mania Red Sky

Watching our beautiful New Mexico sunsets, reminded me I had this card in my stash.  I hadn't quite finished it, so I dug it out and got it done.  All images are by Stamp A Mania, and you can find them at www.stampamania.com   I had the pleasure of making the card with the owner of Stamp A Mania, Cynthia Stansell.  Of course, her other half is Mark, who I fondly call the "Big Kahuna."  :o)    Cynthia and Mark came to Santa Fe, and held classes and a trunk show at Guadalupe Fun Rubber Stamp store a while back.  Cynthia's classes are always so darn much fun, and we laugh and giggle till our cheeks and sides hurt...besides learning so many cool stamping projects.   Hopefully, Ms. Cynthia will be back soon to teach more classes in Santa Fe, and a truck show to boot would be great!  That's a hint you two.

Now for the card info.  Aren't the colors gorgeous?  I just love reddish orange colors.  The ink pad used  on this card is Kaleidacolor Desert Heat.   The "Big Kahuna" gives me heck about the brayering technique.  Cynthia is beyond expert level at brayering, and I'm sad to say....I'm not.  Getting better tho!  I confess, I'm pretty darn happy with the brayering on this particular card.  Yahoo!  The yuccas were stamped with Brilliance Rich Cocoa (I think).  Cynthia, if you read this post and I'm wrong, please let me know and we'll get it posted on the blog.  The Happy Birthday was stamped with another Brilliance ink, and I think that is a silver ink pad.  Of course, you first stamp the mountain range in the background with Versamark, then brayer over that. You can get all the stamps and supplies at Stamp A Mania.  I added a bit of Stickles to the yucca blossoms for a little pizzazz.
